Stargazing Campout – POSTPONED

Stargazing Campout on the Capel Property

With almost 100% chance that there will be cloud cover, and 40-50% chance of rain from various weather predictions, The LandTrust has decided to postpone the camping and stargazing event originally slated for tonight. We will post more information soon about a make-up date for this event. Please call The Land Trust office in Salisbury (704) 647-0302 or Asheboro (336) 633-0143 with additional questions. Thanks as always for your support of The LandTrust.

Join The LandTrust as we camp out and star gaze August 12 in the beautiful Uwharrie Mountains!

This is said to be the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower, one of the brighter meteor showers of the year occurring around August 10-13.

This meteor shower consists of tiny space debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle, and the Perseids are named after the constellation, Perseus, because it lies in the same direction as it.

Gather with us for a nature walk on our beautiful Capel Property during the afternoon, and stay for a cookout and camp out as we watch the meteor shower from one of the best places to view it around.

The Stargazing event will be on our Capel Property which is is at approximately 380 Dennis Road, Troy NC. There’s a yellow gate there into the property and we will have land trust event signs directing you there. We’ll have a nature walk and campout. The walk will begin at 3pm, cook out around 6pm.

Bring your own camping gear and join us for this great event on a truly unique property. If you have your own canoe or kayak, there is access here to paddle on the Uwharrie River as well. Please RSVP to Crystal at crystal@landtrustcnc.org.
