Catawba Ecological Preserve

2300 W Innes St, Salisbury, NC

The first easement donated by a private North Carolina college, the Catawba College Ecological Preserve is a 189-acre nature sanctuary with public trails throughout. Under the supervision of 2002 North Carolina Conservationist of the Year, Dr. John Wear, Jr., the Preserve has shallow water impoundments, as well as forested and open seasonal wetlands playing home to numerous species of migratory waterfowl. Located at the campus of Catawba College in downtown Salisbury, this ecological preserve boasts a wide variety of wildlife and educational opportunities.
