Neotropical Migratory Birds in the Uwharries Talk

We hope that you can join us on October 10th for a talk with ornithologist John Gerwin on the neotropical migratory birds that breed in the Uwharries. Learn why some birds fly thousands of miles just to nest and raise young in our own Uwharrie Mountains! In particular, hear more about the research Dr. Joe Poston and John are doing on black-throated green warblers, newly discovered to be nesting in the Uwharries. The event will take place at the N.C. Zoological Park in the Stedmon Education Center, from 7:00pm – 9:00pm.

*John is the Research Scientist & Curator of Birds with the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, and is the Treasurer of the Wake Audubon Society. In addition, he is Chairperson for the Scientific Council on Rare, Threatened, and Endangered Birds of NC, and serves on the Board of the Wake Audubon Society, the Important Bird Areas Technical Committee for Audubon NC, and the NC Partners In Flight advisory committee. His work focuses on researching the life cycles of migratory birds, with a focus on breeding biology.
