Conservation makes the holidays happen

It may seem unlikely...

…but the fact is that local conservation gives us the cozy seasonal landscapes we love, the festive foods we enjoy with friends and family, and the recreational pastimes we look forward to all year long. No matter what your favorite holiday tradition is, chances are it’s connected to local conservation.

CONSERVATION MAKES THE HOLIDAYS HAPPEN

Conservation makes the season bright.

North Carolina is the #1 state for fall foliage, and public lands offer the best views of autumn’s vibrant colors. Whether you’re hiking through the woods or simply enjoying the scenery, NC’s fall beauty is the perfect backdrop for the holiday season.

Though North Carolina is the 4th most-forested state in the country, rapid growth puts increasing development pressures on local land.

By helping to permanently conserve North Carolina’s natural resources, you keep our state’s beauty alive through every season.

Conservation brings farm to table.

It’s simple – no farms, no food.

North Carolina farms are among the nation’s top producers of turkey, ham, and sweet potatoes. If these festive favorites are part of your holiday traditions, there’s a good chance they’re produced right here in NC.

Though agriculture is North Carolina’s #1 industry, NC is ranked #2 in projected agricultural land loss, with over 1.2 million acres projected to be lost to development by the year 2040.

By helping to permanently conserve North Carolina’s family farms, you keep your favorite holiday traditions alive.

CONSERVATION MAKES THE HOLIDAYS HAPPEN

Conservation makes hunting season accessible.

There’s no better time for hunting than the holiday season.

November through December is peak deer season in North Carolina. Each year, 250,000 sportsmen and women take more than 2.9 million trips afield in pursuit of deer in our region.

Three Rivers Land Trust has added over 5,000 acres of land to the public trust that can now be used by hunters and anglers. Ensuring that sportsmen always have a place to enjoy the outdoors.

Land loss isn't seasonal.

The only difference between permanent land loss and permanent conservation is your financial support.

When you give the gift of conservation, you leave a permanent legacy for all those who live, work, and play here, as well as everyone who visits, shares, and loves this beautiful land.

Did you know?

When you support conservation with Three Rivers Land Trust, you never have to wonder what happens to your donation. Every penny we receive from our local region goes right back into it, and for every $1 we receive, we leverage an additional $16 from other sources for local conservation projects. Simple as that.
