FAQ:

Do you have to pay to participate in the challenge?
No, challenge participation is free for LandTrust members. See the Giving page for more information.

Is there a required fitness or experience level?
No! The Hike Challenge has been designed to be accessible to individuals of varying fitness and experience levels. Because it is up to you to pick your eight hikes, you are welcome to choose routes from the Easy, Moderate, or Hard routes listed on the Qualifying Hikes page. If you are participating in the Paddle Challenge, we recommend a certain level of comfort in the water and exploring our routes with another person if you are unsure of your ability or the route. As always, please prepare for safety on your outing, leaving information about your route with a friend or family member and ensuring you are prepared for weather and other potential risks. For more information about outdoor safety, please visit our Before You Go page.

Can I bring my dog?
It depends on the property you are visiting. Please visit the property website or call to ask about their rules for pets. Pets are allowed in all US National Forests, including the Uwharrie National Forest, but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times while in developed recreation areas and on interpretive trails. Most other areas within the National Forests do not require dogs to be on a leash, but they should be under control at all times. Pets are not permitted in swimming areas.

*Remember to always clean up after your pet, never leave your pet unattended (especially in a vehicle, even for a short time), and check for ticks when you return home.
