Three Rivers Land Trust is excited to announce we are hosting our 16th Uwharrie Trail Thru Hike event! This is a 4-day, 40-mile backpacking trip on the full length of the historic Uwharrie National Recreational Trail. The Uwharrie Trail is known for its cultural and natural significance, including unique features such as gold mines, rare plants and wildlife, ghost stories, and more. Join us for an awesome backpacking trip through some of the oldest mountains in the world. The thru-hike will go from south to north, starting at the Highway 24/27 Trailhead and ending at the Tot Hill/Talbott’s Branch trailhead on Tot Hill Farm Road.

No dogs on the hike, please.

No alcohol will be permitted other than what the trail angels provide. We are also requiring a quiet time of 9pm at night when noise should be kept to a minimum. Most people will be winding down and finding their sleeping bags by that time anyway, so as a courtesy to others we are requesting that you limit noise after that time.

The hike is four approximately 10-mile days with camping at established camps: Yates Place, Jumpin’ Off Rock, and Walkers Creek Trailhead. We will send a more detailed map of the route closer to the date along with some final information and details. Must be at least 16 years old or accompanied by an adult. Children must be 12 years or older to participate. All participants must sign a liability release form.

This includes filtered water, snacks, clean camp amenities, a large cookout the last night, a commemorative tee shirt, and a one-year membership to Three Rivers Land Trust.  Your registration fee makes conservation and trails like this possible.

Registration for this event will be $150. There are no refunds for this event and registration is non-transferable.

Please plan to hike the full 40 miles, there is not a partial hike registration option.

We are also in need of trail angels to help out with logistics. You’ll receive a free tee shirt for helping. Contact Emily Callicutt at emily@trlt.org for more information.

If you have any questions, please contact us at emily@trlt.org or call (704) 647-0302.
